Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing left, rendered in a restrained Classical style with short, layered hair swept forward over the brow. The portrait is set within a plain, unadorned field without an inner border. The surrounding legend reads IMP CAESAR DIVI F AVGVSTVS P M P P, distributed around the periphery of the flan in Latin capitals. The die work is competent if somewhat provincial in execution, consistent with colonial mint production at Carthage. The flan is slightly irregular and shows typical characteristics of hammered bronze coinage of the Augustan period.
