Obverse description Laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized portrait style characteristic of Augustan provincial coinage. The emperor's features are depicted with a wreath of laurel leaves encircling the head. The circular legend surrounds the effigy, reading IMP AVGVST PATER PATRIA, conferring upon Augustus his honorific title of Father of the Fatherland, a distinction awarded in 2 BC. The flan is irregular in outline, as typical of Hispanic municipal bronze issues of this period.
