The legend EMPORIT is inscribed along the lower exergual area in bold Latin capitals, identifying the issuing city of Emporiae (modern Empúries, Catalonia). The relief is bold but shows softening from circulation wear. The style closely follows earlier Greek colonial prototypes while incorporating Roman provincial influence. |
