Iltirta was an Iberian city in the territory of the Ilergetes, in what is now the Lleida region of Catalonia, and its bronze coinage was struck during the period of intensifying Roman administrative pressure following the Second Punic War. Rome allowed — and effectively encouraged — Iberian communities to mint their own bronze for local exchange, provided silver coinage conformed to Roman weight standards. The as denomination here reflects that accommodation.
FAB 1470 is among the better-documented Iltirtan issues in Villaronga's corpus.
