Beschrijving keerzijde Two tuna fish depicted in profile, both oriented facing right and arranged in parallel, occupying the central field of the reverse. The tuna motif is characteristic of coastal Hispanic mints whose economy was closely tied to the fishing and fish-salting industry. The Latin legend ANAIPORA appears in the field, identifying the issuing community.

Aanvullende informatie

Aipora was a small Iberian settlement whose exact location remains disputed among scholars, with candidates ranging across the middle Ebro valley. The community issued bronze coinage under the broader framework of Iberian autonomous minting that flourished after Roman consolidation of Hispania following the Second Punic War — a period when dozens of local communities struck their own issues, partly to satisfy Roman fiscal demands for troop pay and tribute.

The ACIP reference places this among the earliest documented Iberian civic bronzes, and surviving examples are genuinely scarce.
