The deity holds an eagle in the extended right hand and grasps a tall sceptre in the left hand, mirroring the iconography of the famous cult image venerated at Laodicea ad Lycum. The composition occupies the central field of the flan, with the abbreviated Latin legend disposed in the field. The reverse type is a direct reference to the city's principal religious identity and its celebrated Olympian deity. |
