| Beschrijving voorzijde | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, portrayed in the imperial Roman provincial style. The radiate crown displays prominent pointed rays. A Greek imperial titulature legend encircles the bust, reading ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ Μ ΑΥΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ, identifying the emperor as Autocrator Caesar Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus. The effigy is rendered in a bold, somewhat provincial engraving style characteristic of Mesopotamian civic coinage of the Severan period. |

The reverse legend ΔΗΜΑΡΧ ΕΞ ΥΠΑΤΟϹ ΤΟ Δ, rendered in Greek, references the emperor's tribunician power and his fourth consulship, serving as a dating formula. The composition is typical of the civic bronze and billon coinage struck at Rhesaena under Caracalla. |
