| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, seen from the rear, with the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder. The emperor's portrait displays characteristic short beard and strong facial features in the provincial Syrian style. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs along the dotted border, reading ΑΥΤ Κ Μ ΑΥ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ. Below the bust, the head of an eagle with spread wings is partially visible, an iconographic element distinctive to the Edessan mint. |
