| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Diadumenian as Caesar, facing right and seen from the rear, with curly hair rendered in fine detail. The effigy displays the paludamentum over the cuirass, characteristic of the junior imperial rank. A circular Greek legend surrounds the portrait in the field, reading Μ ΟΠΕΛ ΑΝΤωΝΕΙΝΟϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ. The flan is notably broad and irregular, typical of the provincial bronze coinage of Edessa under the short-lived Severan dynasty. |
