| Reverse description | An eagle depicted facing, with wings fully spread and head turned to the right, holding a wreath in its beak — a standard emblem of imperial apotheosis in Roman provincial coinage. Between the eagle's legs stands a small shrine or naiskos with a pediment, a characteristic reverse type of Edessan coinage under Macrinus. The Greek legend ΔΗΜΑΡΧ ΕΞ ΥΠΑΤΟϹ Τ Α, referencing the tribunician power and first consulship, is distributed around the field. The overall composition is bold and well-centred despite the irregular flan. |
