| Beschrijving keerzijde | Eagle displayed, facing front with wings fully spread, head turned to the right, holding a wreath in its beak. Between the eagle's legs, a small shrine or temple facade is depicted with a pediment, a motif characteristic of the coinage of Edessa under the Severan dynasty. The Greek legend ΔΗΜΑΡΧ ΕΞ ΥΠΑΤΟϹ (referring to the tribunician power and consulship) is arranged around the reverse field. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border, and the striking is typical of the irregular flan fabric associated with Mesopotamian provincial issues. |
