Reverse description The Dioscuri, Castor and Pollux, depicted standing facing one another in the field, each wearing a conical pilos helmet adorned with a star, and rendered as nude heroic figures. Each twin holds a long spear upright in one hand and a sword in the other. The two figures stand on a ground line, flanked on either side by the encircling Greek legend. The composition is symmetrical and reflects the traditional Hellenistic iconographic treatment of the divine twins, patrons of sailors and a recurring type in the coinage of Pontic cities.
