Reverse description Reverse depicting the Pronoia (Providence) of the Gods: Emperor Commodus, capite velato and wearing the toga, stands facing left, pouring a libation from a patera over a flaming altar. To his left stands a male figure holding a torch; to his right stand two male figures, the outermost also holding a torch. Trees flank the scene on both sides, and a latticed barrier encircles the base of the tree to the left, lending the composition a sacred precinct atmosphere. The Greek reverse legend and regnal year formula appear in the field.
