| Obverse description | Laureate head of the emperor Antoninus Pius facing right, with traces of drapery visible at the shoulder truncation. The effigy is rendered in the characteristic Antonine style, with a mature, bearded portrait. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ ΕΥϹΕΒ, partially visible around the periphery of the flan. The strike is somewhat uneven, consistent with Alexandrian billon tetradrachm production of the period. |
