| Reverse description | The enthroned deity Sarapis is depicted seated to the left, holding a long sceptre in his left hand, wearing the modius (kalathos) atop his head, his right hand extended. To the left stands a lion-headed fountain (canopus), from which water pours from a jug, surmounted by a military vexillum. The regnal year date L ΙΕ (Year 15) appears in the field. The composition reflects the syncretistic religious imagery characteristic of Alexandrian coinage under Roman imperial authority. |
