Year 15 of Trajan's reign corresponds to a period of intense military preparation — the First Dacian War had concluded in 102 AD, and Rome was already rebuilding diplomatic and logistical infrastructure ahead of the Second, which would begin in 105. Alexandria's mint continued producing tetradrachms on the debased billon standard that had defined provincial Egyptian coinage since Nero's catastrophic reduction of the late 60s AD, a debasement never fully reversed under any subsequent emperor.
