| Description du revers | Draped bust of Sarapis facing right, the syncretic Greco-Egyptian deity depicted wearing his distinctive stepped kalathos (modius) atop his head and a taenia (fillet) in his hair, with drapery visible at the shoulder. The reverse legend, split across the field, records the regnal year in the Egyptian calendar. The bust is rendered with considerable detail, reflecting the importance of the Sarapis cult in Ptolemaic and Roman Alexandria. A beaded border frames the design. |
