| Obverse description | Laureate, cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander facing right, seen from the front, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The imperial effigy is rendered in the characteristic Alexandrian style, with fine portraiture detail. The encircling Greek legend reads Α ΚΑΙ ΜΑΡ ΑΥ ϹΕΥ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟϹ, identifying the emperor as Augustus Caesar Marcus Aurelius Severus Alexander, with the abbreviation ΕΥ (Eusebous, meaning 'pious') appended.
