| Reverse description | Nilus personified reclines left, his head crowned with a lotus wreath, his left arm resting upon the head of a hippopotamus. The god holds a reed in one hand and a cornucopia in the other, from which emerges a small Genius or Agathodaemon figure facing left, in the act of crowning Nilus with a wreath. The composition is a hallmark of Alexandrian coinage celebrating the fertility and abundance of the Nile, rendered with characteristic provincial artistry. The date regnal year numeral L Ϛ (year 6) appears in the field. |
