| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander facing right, seen from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The emperor's effigy displays characteristic Severan portraiture with a laureate wreath clearly rendered atop curled hair. The Greek imperial legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The strike is somewhat irregular, as typical of Alexandrian tetradrachm production of this period. |
