| Beschrijving keerzijde | Sarapis seated on a throne facing left, his left hand resting on a tall sceptre while his right hand is extended forward toward Cerberus, the three-headed guardian of the underworld, who sits attentively at his feet. The god wears his characteristic kalathos (modius) headdress and is draped in flowing robes, rendered in the syncretic Graeco-Egyptian artistic tradition of Alexandria. The regnal year date appears in the left field as L Ϛ (Year 6), corresponding to the sixth year of Septimius Severus's reign in the Egyptian calendar. |
