| 背面描述 | Bearded head of Poseidon facing right, with drapery visible on the left shoulder; the god is depicted in the classical Hellenistic manner with flowing hair. A trident, the iconic attribute of Poseidon, is visible in the field. The Greek legend ΠΟΣΕΙΔΩΝ ΙΣΘΜΙΟΣ ('Poseidon of the Isthmus') surrounds the design, referencing the deity's celebrated sanctuary at the Isthmus of Corinth, likely alluding to Nero's proclamation of Greek freedom at the Isthmian Games in 67 AD. |

Nero visited Greece in 66–67 AD for his celebrated artistic tour, during which he competed in — and conveniently won — every musical and athletic contest he entered, including events at the Isthmian Games. This tetradrachm was struck in that precise year at Alexandria, and the Poseidon Isthmios reverse type directly commemorates that visit and Nero's proclamation freeing Greece from Roman taxation, delivered at the Isthmian sanctuary.
The issue is scarce. RPC I 5277 documents it with a handful of specimens across major collections.
