Reverse description A Canopic jar of Osiris depicted in profile facing right, rendered as a mummiform vessel with a human head surmounted by an elaborate crown, the body adorned with decorative bands and resting upon a stepped or beaded base. The Canopus, a quintessentially Egyptian religious symbol associated with the cult of Osiris, is a recurring reverse type of the Alexandrian coinage under Hadrian. The regnal date letter L Β (year 2, corresponding to 117–118 AD) flanks the figure, with L to the left and Β to the right.
