Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, viewed from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The portrait displays Hadrian's characteristic short beard and softly curled hair rendered in the Hellenistic tradition favoured by Alexandrian die-cutters. The Greek imperial legend is disposed in two arcs around the field, divided left and right of the effigy. A beaded border encircles the entire design.
