| Obverse description | Laureate, draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, with drapery visible on the left shoulder. The circumferential Greek legend reads ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙϹ ΤΡΙΑΝΟϹ ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. A star appears in the right field beside the portrait, a characteristic Alexandrian mint accessory mark. The portrait is rendered in the typical Hadrianic style of the Alexandrian mint, with bold facial features appropriate to provincial coinage of the early second century AD. |
