| Beschrijving keerzijde | An eagle stands facing with head turned to the right, its wings spread wide in a heraldic posture, holding a wreath in its beak — the emblem of imperial apotheosis in Alexandrian coinage. The bird is rendered with detailed feathering across the wings and tail, its talons firmly planted on a ground line. In the right field appears the regnal year numeral Ϛ (year 6), and to the left the date marker L, together denoting the sixth year of Gordian III's reign in the Egyptian calendar. The composition fills the flan with the characteristic bold, slightly crude style of the Alexandrian provincial tetradrachm. |
