Reverse description Draped bust of Sarapis facing right, the god wearing his distinctive modius (kalathos) atop his head, a hallmark attribute of the syncretic Graeco-Egyptian deity. The bearded portrait of Sarapis is rendered in the conventional Alexandrian style, with curling locks framing the face. The regnal year date L Δ (Year 4, corresponding to 220-221 AD) appears in the field, a standard dating convention used on Alexandrian provincial coinage. The overall strike is typical of the billon tetradrachm series issued under Elagabalus.
