| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, wearing the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder. The emperor is depicted with a short beard in the characteristic portraiture style of the Antonine period. The Greek imperial legend encircles the bust, reading ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ ΕΥϹΕΒ, denoting his titles of Augustus and Pius. The flan is irregular and shows surface corrosion consistent with the billon coinage of Alexandrian mint production. |
