正面铭文 ΑΝΤωΝΙΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ ΕΥϹΕΒ
背面描述 Draped bust of Nilus facing right, crowned with a taenia and lotus-buds, the personification rendered in the characteristic Alexandrian provincial style. A reed is depicted at the shoulder, while before the bust appears a cornucopia from which emerges a small Genius holding a wreath, symbolizing the fertility and abundance of the Nile. The regnal date legend L ΙΘ (Year 19) appears in the field, corresponding to the nineteenth year of Antoninus Pius's reign (155–156 AD). The reverse composition reflects the strong Egyptianizing iconographic tradition of the Alexandrian mint.

附加信息

Year 19 of Antoninus Pius's reign — rendered as L ΙΘ in the Alexandrian dating system — fell during a period of exceptional administrative stability in Egypt. Antoninus never visited the province, yet his 23-year reign produced more Alexandrian tetradrachm types than almost any other emperor, a reflection of the mint's prolific output under a government that ran, for once, without crisis. The billon alloy by this point had already degraded significantly from the near-pure silver of earlier imperial issues, a debasement that accelerated sharply under his successors.
