| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bare-headed bust of Emperor Antoninus Pius facing right, with finely rendered curly hair and short beard rendered in the Alexandrian style. The portrait is depicted as a truncated draped bust, with the emperor's characteristic physiognomy conveyed in relatively high relief. The Greek imperial legend encircles the portrait, reading ΑΥΤ Κ Τ ΑΙΛ ΑΔΡ ΑΝΤωΝΙΝΟϹ ΕΥϹΕΒ, identifying him as Autocrator Caesar Titus Aelius Hadrianus Antoninus Pius. The flan is irregular and slightly porous, consistent with billon tetradrachm coinage of the Alexandrian mint in the early Antonine period. |
