| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Marcus Aurelius, facing right, with short beard and curly hair, draped in paludamentum over the left shoulder. The portrait is rendered in the naturalistic Antonine style characteristic of Alexandrian provincial coinage. The Greek legend Μ ΑΥΡΗΛΙϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ runs around the field, identifying the subject as Caesar. The flan is irregular, typical of struck billon tetradrachms from the Alexandrian mint of this period. |

| Reverse description | Draped bust of Faustina II, facing right, her hair elaborately coiffed and piled atop the head in a style fashionable under the Antonine dynasty. The bust is rendered with fine detail despite the worn state of the flan. The Greek legend ΦΑΥϹΤΙΝΑ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΗ is disposed around the field, conferring upon her the title of Augusta. The reverse type associates the imperial consort with the dynastic imagery promoted across provincial coinage during the reign of Antoninus Pius. |
