Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the front. The emperor's effigy displays paludamentum over the cuirass, characteristic of Alexandrian imperial portraiture of the Severan period. The encircling Greek legend reads Α ΚΑΙ ΜΑΡ ΑΥΡ ϹΕΥ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟϹ Ε, identifying the ruler as Augustus Caesar Marcus Aurelius Severus Alexander.
