The date regnal year 14 (L ΙΔ) appears in the field, corresponding to AD 234–235 in the reign of Severus Alexander. The composition reflects the characteristic Alexandrian iconographic tradition celebrating the fertility of Egypt. |

By regnal year 14 — the last full year before Severus Alexander's murder on the Rhine frontier in March 235 — the Alexandrian mint was producing tetradrachms under conditions of mounting military pressure and a treasury strained by campaign costs. The coinage of this year is not especially scarce, but it closes the series abruptly: no year 15 exists, because the emperor did not survive to one.
