Reverse description The god Nilus reclines leftward upon a hippopotamus, his body turned in a relaxed posture characteristic of Alexandrian river-god iconography. He holds a tall cornucopia in his left arm, symbolizing the fertility of the Nile flood, and a reed in his right hand. In the left field, the regnal date L Α (Year 1) is prominently displayed. Above, a crocodile or similar device is partially visible along the upper border, consistent with Alexandrian tetradrachm reverses of this period.
