Obverse description Laureate, cuirassed and paludamentum-draped bust of Marcus Aurelius facing right, seen from the rear, with the folds of the military cloak visible over the left shoulder. The emperor's effigy is rendered in the characteristic Antonine style with naturalistic portraiture. The encircling Greek legend reads Μ ΑΥΡ(ΗΛ)ΙΟϹ ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟϹ Ϲ, identifying the emperor by name and title in the Alexandrian tetradrachm tradition.
