| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, portrayed frontally with a gorgoneion (Medusa head apotropaic device) upon the cuirass. The imperial effigy is rendered in the prevailing Alexandrian provincial style, with fine detail on the laurel wreath and armor. The encircling Greek legend names the emperor with his imperial titulature. |
