| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Aurelian facing right, depicted from the front with three-quarter perspective. The effigy displays the imperial laurel wreath crown and military attire. The Greek legend Α Κ Λ ΔΟΜ ΑΥΡΗΛΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ encircles the bust, identifying the emperor by his titulature as Augustus. The style is characteristic of Alexandrian provincial coinage of the early 270s, rendered in hammered billon of notably heavy fabric. |
