Reverse description A she-wolf stands to the right, her head turned back to the left, suckling the twin infants Romulus and Remus who are depicted below her. The regnal year date L ΙΔ (year 14, corresponding to 150–151 AD) appears in the upper field, serving as the primary chronological indicator on this Alexandrian provincial issue. The design alludes to the founding myth of Rome and was a common reverse type on coins struck under the Roman emperors at Alexandria. The composition is rendered in the characteristic low-relief, somewhat schematic style of Alexandrian billon tetradrachms.
