Reverse description Draped bust of Sarapis facing right, wearing the characteristic tall kalathos (modius) on his head and a taenia binding the hair. The god's beard and serene, divine countenance are rendered in the Alexandrian tradition, reflecting the syncretic Graeco-Egyptian deity worshipped throughout Roman Egypt. The regnal year date appears in the field in Greek numerals. The design is typical of Alexandrian tetradrachm reverses celebrating the principal deity of Alexandria under the Antonine emperors.
