| 裏面の説明 | The personification of Alexandria stands facing left, wearing a turreted crown (polos or modius) atop her head, draped in long robes. She raises her right arm in a gesture of salutation or beneficence, while her left hand holds a long sceptre. The regnal year notation is divided across the field, with the Egyptian date letter L (year sign) to the left and the numeral Β (two) to the right, indicating regnal year 2. The border is formed by a beaded circle consistent with Alexandrian tetradrachm fabric. |

Aemilian seized power in the summer of 253 AD after his troops proclaimed him emperor following a victory over Gothic raiders along the Danube. His entire reign lasted roughly three months before his own soldiers killed him and transferred their allegiance to Valerian. Alexandria's mint, which operated on its own regnal year system tied to the Egyptian calendar, managed to produce coinage into his second year — a calendrical quirk that places this piece among the final issues of one of Rome's most short-lived emperors.
