| Obverse description | Laureate, draped bust of the Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style with characteristic curled beard and hair. The effigy displays a paludamentum (military cloak) over the left shoulder. A circular Greek legend surrounds the portrait, reading ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΤΡΑ ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ Π Π ΥΠ Γ, denoting his imperial titles. The die engraving reflects the Hadrianic artistic idiom common to Pontic civic coinage of the early second century AD. |
