| Beschrijving voorzijde | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted three-quarter from the front with paludamentum visible at the left shoulder. The imperial effigy displays youthful features characteristic of this emperor's early reign. A circular Greek legend surrounds the bust in the field, reading Α Κ Μ ΑΝ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ ΕΥϹ(Ε), abbreviating the emperor's titulature as Augustus and Eusebes (Pious). The flan is irregularly shaped, as typical of Alexandrian billon tetradrachms of this period. |
