Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted in three-quarter view from the front. The youthful imperial effigy displays characteristic Severan-era portraiture with a radiate or laureate wreath crowning the head. The legend encircles the bust in Greek characters, reading Α Κ Μ ΑΝ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ ΕΥϹ(Ε), identifying the emperor with his imperial titulature. The flan is slightly irregular, as typical of Alexandrian provincial issues of this period.
