Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Aurelian facing right, depicted with short beard, the portrait rendered in the characteristic Alexandrian provincial style. The effigy is shown from a frontal perspective with the cuirass visible at the shoulder. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan, partially legible on this worn example.

Reverse description The personification of Elpis (Hope) advancing to the left in long flowing robes, her right hand raising the hem of her garment and her left hand holding a flower before her. The figure is rendered in the typical Alexandrian tetradrachm style, with drapery folds indicated by incised lines. The regnal year legend appears in the left field.
