Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of Marcus Aurelius as Caesar, facing right, with short curly beard and characteristic youthful features, the bust draped in a paludamentum fastened at the right shoulder. The Greek legend Μ ΑΥΡΗΛΙϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ runs around the periphery. The portrait is rendered in the distinctive Alexandrian style, combining Roman imperial iconography with local workmanship.
