| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Claudius II Gothicus facing right, seen from the rear, rendered in the characteristic provincial style of the Alexandrian mint. The emperor's effigy displays a radiate crown above a draped and armoured torso. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΑΥΤ Κ ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟϹ ϹΕΒ, denoting his imperial titulature. The portrait exhibits the bold, somewhat schematic workmanship typical of mid-third-century Alexandrian tetradrachm coinage. |
