Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Claudius II Gothicus facing right, seen from the rear, rendered in the characteristic provincial style of the Alexandrian mint. The emperor's effigy displays a radiate crown above a draped and armoured torso. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΑΥΤ Κ ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟϹ ϹΕΒ, denoting his imperial titulature. The portrait exhibits the bold, somewhat schematic workmanship typical of mid-third-century Alexandrian tetradrachm coinage.
