Year 11 of Diocletian's reign in Egypt corresponds to 294–295 CE, placing this tetradrachm squarely within the final years of Alexandrian bronze coinage before the great monetary reform of 296 CE. Diocletian's edict that year abolished the old Ptolemaic-derived Egyptian currency system entirely, forcibly integrating Egypt into the imperial monetary framework for the first time — ending nearly four centuries of numismatic isolation.
This is consequently among the last tetradrachms Alexandria ever struck.
