Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Maximian facing right, rendered in the late Roman provincial style. The emperor's effigy is depicted with characteristic radiate crown absent, replaced by a simple laurel wreath, with drapery visible at the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend reads ΜΑΞΙΜΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ, identifying the Augustus. The portrait exhibits the robust, military character typical of the Tetrarchic period coinage struck at Alexandria.
