| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Maximian facing right, seen from the rear, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The emperor's radiate crown is replaced here by a laurel wreath, consistent with Alexandrian tetradrachm portraiture. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΜΑΞΙΜΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ, identifying the emperor as Augustus. The portrait is rendered in the late Roman provincial style characteristic of the Alexandrian mint, with strong, bold relief and a bearded visage. |

| Reverse description | A regnal year date inscription enclosed within a laurel wreath tied at the base with a Hercules knot. The text ΕΤΟΥϹ Η is arranged in three lines within the wreath, with the letter Β (indicating the second reign year of the Diocletianic era, corresponding to regnal year 8) positioned below the wreath binding. The wreath itself is carefully rendered with opposing sprays of laurel leaves, a hallmark of Alexandrian reverse design. This date formula is a defining feature of the Alexandrian tetradrachm coinage under the Tetrarchy. |
