| Beschrijving keerzijde | Hygieia, the goddess of health, depicted standing in three-quarter view facing right, draped in a long chiton and himation. She extends her right hand forward, offering a patera from which a large serpent, coiling upward before her, feeds. The composition follows the standard Hygieia type widespread in Phrygian provincial coinage of the Antonine period. The Greek legend ΕΠΙ ΦΛ ΛΙΚΙΝΝΙΑΝΟΥ, naming the local magistrate Flavius Licinnianos under whose authority the coin was struck, is arranged around the field. The reverse surface shows moderate wear consistent with circulation use. |
